Off the Wall, Cardiff’s premier modern, contemporary gallery is pleased to announce another solo show from Paresh Nrshinga.

Since first exhibiting at Off the Wall two years ago, International artist Paresh has become a firm favourite with Welsh art lovers.

Inspired by such artists as Pollock, Warhol, Klimt & Picasso, his paintings reflect his flirtation with expressionism. He has a unique style through the use of colour and personal technique, which is both vibrant & arresting.

You will find Paresh’s work of the highest quality bringing masterpieces of original and exceptional talent. His art is exquisite.

Two painters whose work combines to present aspects of ‘identity’ and ‘place’. Alison Hand is interested in the representation of landscape; perceptions of uselessness and utility; regeneration, utopianism, and the picturesque. Neil Morley combines elements of travel, tourism, colonialism, post- colonialism, British history, portraiture and the politics of representation to provoke political discourses predominately concerned with British national identity.

Sometimes, the most unexpected places seem to encompass the whole of human experience. Caravan visits one such place. Tree lined and isolated, the caravan park of Flatenbadet consists of rows of static caravans that the long term residents call home. They are also the main protagonists of this photographic story.

Timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Falklands/Malvinas war, Voices of the South Atlantic examines issues of war and its consequences. Rooted in the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas conflict, it includes the voices of people who fought on both sides, as well as civilians who were directly affected. Colour photographs of landscapes of the islands and black and white seascapes of the South Atlantic, act as visual metaphors that allude to feelings of menace, courage and fear, at the same time showing physical traces of war.

Remote Encounters, a two-day international conference with performance evening, aims to explore the use of networks as a means to enhance or create a wide variety of performance arts. How do networks as a site for performance provide opportunities for us as artists and performers? In particular how can we remotely collaborate, merge geographically separate places and times, reconfigure the space of performance and the relationship between artist and audience?

It seems that masks are very important to humans; from what I have found so far every culture has used them for one reason or another. An interest in masks from childhood, combined with a fascination of David Lynch’s film ‘The Elephant Man’, has formed the inspiration for much of my art work.

Ffotogallery presents Borderliners, featuring two of the most famous Lithuanian photographers: Aleksandras Macijauskas (b. 1938) and Rimaldas Vikšraitis (b. 1954), winner of the prestigious Discovery Award at Rencontres d’Arles 2009. Vikšraitis acknowledges Macijauskas as his teacher and a formative influence on his artistic career. Between 1969 and 1987 Macijauskas created the groundbreaking photographic series Rural Markets, with a stylistic approach that combined early avant-garde principles, such as the use of diagonal angles and geometric forms, with close-up views of his subjects. Vikšraitis’ Grimaces of the Weary Village is the latest in a series of visual narratives in which the artist captures a way of life that is fast disappearing.
