Alternative Relief – Woodcut Workshop

A one day workshop utilising an ancient form of print, allowing for the freedom to create work directly. You will experience working with a range of woodcutting tools and surfaces. Printing will be achieved using the press and by printing by hand.

The workshop will include:

Block selection.
Preparing and drawing the block.
Use of cutting tools and demonstration of effects.
Multi block printing.
Hand burnishing techniques.
Paper selection

Proof printing using the studio presses.

Basic materials such as a small block, ink, sundries and proofing paper are included in the cost. Larger blocks and specialist paper are available to purchase at the studio.

Day 1:

10 – 4 pm
Cost: £65

All participants must book in advance to secure their place, as classes tend to fill up very quickly. Places are restricted to just six to allow individuals more time to use the facilities provided.
