Statement

My intention throughout my work is to create narratives in a childlike style. I aim to capture an essence of playfulness yet uncertainty. The characters within the stories of the books come to life, exploring a new and exciting 3-dimensional world. I am greatly influenced by children’s drawings and how they lack perspective and proportion. I aim to capture similar qualities when I draw my illustrations as this enables them to be very expressive. They are not realistic images, however, with our symbolic awareness as human beings, we familiarise ourselves with what we see. I believe these imprecision’s should be something to be admired.
