Statement

I am a videomaker interested in experimental, non-narrative work. My video practice is engaged with exploring the connections between place, time and space and their interrelation with the moving image. I am increasingly pursuing this in dialogue with the traditions of still life painting and documentary photography. I am interested in interrogating the dialectics inherent in the moving image in my work, particularly those of stillness-movement, illusion-material and subjectivity-objectivity. My practice is currently focused on exploring the relationship between memory and domestic space, and the combination of illusionist and materialist practices.

Aswell as my art practice, I work on community film projects and teach avant-garde cinema to undergraduates. In my spare time I enjoy quality time with my wife, reading, going to exhibitions and chinwagging over a pint.
